Third-Party RF Keypad Compatibility¶
Bond Bridge Pro can receive button presses from certain third-party RF keypads—such as Lutron Pico remotes—and trigger actions on Bond-controlled devices. This lets you control shades, ceiling fans, and other devices from a Pico mounted on a wall or nightstand without needing a Lutron hub.
Limited Beta
This feature is currently available as a Limited Beta and may become a paid feature in the future.
System Requirements
- Bond Bridge Pro with firmware v3.12 or higher
- Bond Home app version v2.45 or higher
- A dedicated Bond Bridge Pro is strongly recommended1
Compatible Keypads¶
- Lutron Pico remotes (Clear Connect Type A)
Capabilities¶
- Open or Close one or more shades in response to a key press
- Control light on/off and speed of ceiling fans
- Up to 50 keypads per Bridge
- Up to 20 actions per key event2
Limitations¶
- Linking a key press to a Group action is not supported—you must link to each device individually, and shade hembars/weight bars will not be aligned3
- Setting a shade to a specific position is not supported
- Toggle open/close state is not supported
- Scenes are not supported
Setup Guide¶
Step 1: Enable Third-Party RF Keypads¶
- In the Bond Home app, go to Devices > Bridge Settings > Network.
- Tap the IP address to copy it.
-
Open a web browser and navigate to:
For example:
http://192.168.1.42/bridge
-
Select Third-Party RF Keypads and tap Save. The Bridge will reboot—this usually takes less than 10 seconds but may take up to 90 seconds.

Step 2: Pair a Keypad¶
-
In the Bond Home app, go to Devices > (+) > Sidekick.
Note
The Bridge treats third-party keypads as Sidekick devices. This is why you select the Sidekick option during pairing.
-
When prompted, hold down the uppermost button on the keypad for approximately 6 seconds until the Bridge recognizes it.

-
Assign the keypad to a room and give it a descriptive name. The app will default to a name based on the keypad's internal ID.

-
The keypad now appears on the My Devices screen.

Step 3: Link Keys to Actions¶
-
Tap the keypad card to open the keypad linking screen.

-
Tap the (+) next to the key you want to program. The app always shows 5 keys even if your keypad has fewer—see the key mapping chart below for the physical-to-logical mapping.

-
When asked for the event type, choose Tap. Other events (Double Tap, Hold) are not supported for third-party keypads.
-
Select the device and action you want to trigger, following the in-app instructions.
-
Once back at the linking screen, test by tapping the button on the physical keypad.

Trademarks¶
Lutron, Pico, RadioRA 2, RadioRA 3, and Clear Connect are trademarks or registered trademarks of Lutron Electronics Co., Inc., in the U.S. and/or other countries. These trademarks are used here solely to identify products compatible with Bond Bridge Pro. This use does not imply any endorsement by or affiliation with the trademark owner.
-
Bond Bridge Pro can both transmit and receive, but not simultaneously. If you use a single Bridge to control RF appliances (Somfy, Gaposa, etc.) and listen for keypad presses, a keypress during an RF transmission will be missed. Adding a dedicated Bridge for keypad listening eliminates this issue. ↩
-
Adding more than one action increases transmit time, worsening the experience on a single Bridge. Adding a second Bridge resolves this. ↩
-
Because group actions are not available, shades linked individually to the same key will move sequentially rather than simultaneously, which can result in misaligned positions at the bottom of travel. ↩
